iPodApple Computer, creator of the iPod portable audio player, may start marketing a video-capable version of the ubiquitous MP3 player, according to a Wall Street Journal article published today.

The computer and electronics company, famous for its line of audio players, Macintosh computers, and iTunes Music Store, which yesterday sold its half-billion song, may have recently held discussions with major recording companies concerning licensing artists' music videos.

Negotiations were allegedly made with Warner, EMI, Universal, and Sony BMG to license music videos expected to be sold as early as September for $1.99 each, twice the price of the standard iTunes Music Store audio track.

"The negotiations are a possible prelude to a version of Apple's hit iPod that would play video, a widely expected gadget that Apple has told some entertainment-industry executives that it could announce by September," the Wall Street Journal said.
