Apple Logo Make Your Own Paper Mini iPod
Posted 7:02PM March 21 2004

Step 1: Download an iPod Template

Choose the color you'd like, which will open a PDF file in a new window. Simply print the page on your printer's highest quality setting.

Note: Opening the PDF file requires  Adobe Reader. Looking cool requires white Apple In-ear Headphones, see below.

Step 2: Cut out your iPod

Carefully cut along the iPod and gray rectangles which will later be folded to glue the iPod together. Now is a good time to start thinking about how awesome you'll look in front of your friends with your new Apple iPod, so you won't lose interest in the project.

I'd recommend buying a pair of Apple In-ear Headphones (White) to make it even more realistic. You could make those out of paper, too, but they won't look very good.

Step 3: Fold & Glue

Elmer's Glue
Next, fold the two halves around a cylindrical object, such as a marker. This will ensure a good curvature, which is a necessity for Apple products. Place glue on the thin rectangle, and glue the halves together, repeating the curving process for that side afterwards.

Add glue to the smaller rectangles at the top and bottom, and fold them over. It's a little harder to get these to stay, which is why I recommend fast-drying glue, unlike the the kind pictured to the left.

Step 4: Enjoy your Status Symbol

You've completed the project and now have the ability to place the Mini iPod casually on your desk at school, almost like it's the real thing. It's important to remember, though, that this free ticket into the world of Apple can only be used once, or at least until someone finds a way to make a full-size PowerMac which would, of course, be pretty sweet.
